A slop grenade refers to an AI-generated response that is excessively long, unedited, and then "tossed" into a conversation or email, creating more work for the recipient. This term was coined by Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, who observed it as a negative consequence of increased AI tool usage in the workplace.

Instead of using AI to clarify and shorten communications, a slop grenade is a wall of text that often lacks human judgment and can kill dialogue. The sender saves time by copying and pasting, but the recipient has to sift through the "AI slop" to extract the relevant information, effectively creating a "doom loop" of AI-generated content.
